Zen Meditation and Christianity

Buddhist Zen Master and teacher Soeng Hyang, born Barbara Rhodes, will speak about Zen Meditation at the Faculty of Theology. Soeng Hyang has been devoted to Zen since 1972. She was the founder of the Providence Zen Center of the Kwan Um Buddhist School in the United States. She is also engaged in hospice care in her professional life.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Olomouc student priest and administrator of the academic parish, Jan Regner, SJ, will speak on the topic of Zen and Christianity. This will be followed by a Hyang’s lecture and Q&A section.

The meeting will take place on September 4, 2019 at 18:00 in the Assembly Hall (Aula) of the Sts Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology in Olomouc.

The event is organized by the Kwan Um Zen School and the Institute of Intercultural, Interreligious and Ecumenical Research and Dialogue at the CMTF UP in Olomouc.
