During the week of January 19, 2026, there will be a change in the way you log into STAG, the UP Portal, and other university systems that are connected to the single sign-on system. The appearance of the login screen will change, but your username and password will remain the same (you will only need to add @upol.cz to your username).

Instead of the current login screen, students and staff at UP will see a different screen from mid-January (see images below), and the web addresses will also change. Single sign-on previously worked at idp.upol.cz, but will now lead to login.microsoftonline.com. Users can already log in to the entire Microsoft 365 space with their login details in the new required format.

On the first screen, users enter their username (in short form as PortalID, not their email address), followed by @upol.cz, and then enter their current password on the next screen.

"Palacký University is under constant cyber attack. The weakest links are the users themselves, who in today's fast-paced world easily succumb to sophisticated attacks and reveal their passwords to attackers. Passwords alone are therefore no longer sufficient in today's world, and the trend is towards the introduction of multi-factor authentication. The current transition to a new login method is precisely a preparation for multi-factor authentication," explains David Skoupil, director of the UP Computer Centre, adding that the new login method will apply to all services that are currently connected to single sign-on.

The current login method will remain for UPlikace, UP Reflexe, the ERMS file service, and services primarily intended for non-academic staff, such as SAP client, STAG client, and IDM.

"During the deployment of this new technology, there may be short-term service outages, so we apologize in advance for any complications," Skoupil warns.
