About the Department
The Department of Liturgy Theology provides teaching and research in the area of Christian liturgy, general ritual expressions, liturgical music, sacral art and architecture. The Department currently provides teaching primarily for theology study subjects focused on the story, theology, history and cultural anchoring of Christian liturgy and liturgical song; for pedagogical subjects also the teaching of the cultural-anthropological foundations of celebrating mass. The research concerns the scholarly focuses of the members of the department and includes the area of sacramental celebrations, theological and architectural dimensions of the mass spaces, liturgical art, comparisons with other liturgical families, translations and creation of liturgical texts and the ecumenical dimension of Christian services.

History of the department
During the renewal of the Faculty of Theology in 1990, the Department of Liturgical Theology was established and began work. The head of the department became ThDr. František Kunetka and his assistant was Ing. arch. Tomáš Černoušek. Since 2018, its head is doc. Ing. Pavel Kopeček, Th.D.
