Third International Teaching Week

3. ročník ITW

Na teologické fakultě skončil 3. International Teaching Week: 4 dny plné přednášek a workshopů, na nichž se setkávali čeští a zahraniční akademici a studenti. Do Olomouce díky této mezinárodní akci přijela přednášet řada zajímavých zahraničních hostů: např. člen Mezinárodní teologické komise Nicholaus Segeja, profesor sociální práce z Kansaské univerzity Edward R. Canda, turecko-německý odborník na občanské války dr. Can Zeyrek nebo lektorka tibetských tanců Jia Lin. Studenti si mohli vyslechnout na tři desítky přednášek a setkat se s vrstevníky ze čtyř středoevropských zemí.

„Na třetím ročníku International Teaching Week mě nejvíc potěšilo, kolik studentů i akademiků se aktivně zapojilo, ať už šlo o moderování, péči o hosty, focení, nebo třeba vaření kávy,“ uvedl proděkan pro zahraničí doc. Dominik Opatrný, který ve dnech 30. 10. do 2. 11. 2023 spolu se Zahraničním oddělením CMTF UP akci organizoval.

Rafal CEKIERA, “Protect us from life’s turbulence”: A sociological analysis of prayer records in the chapel at Warsaw Chopin

What are the characteristics of the 'religiosity of airport chapel'? What do travelers pray for before flying? What is important to them? How do they structure their prayers? What can we learn from analyzing the content of travelers' prayers? Is it even possible to study such intimate documents scientifically? We will try to answer these questions by analyzing the entries in the book of prayers and requests, which is kept in the chapel of Warsaw Chopin Airport - the largest Polish airport.

Andrew Doole, Biblical Values

Many Christians take the Bible as a source of ethical instruction. But what are “Biblical Ethics”? And what exactly does the Bible “say”? Rather than simply adopting Scripture word for word or dismissing it completely as outdated superstition, we will look closely at the various moral discourses found in the Bible and what these reveal about ancient and modern ethical reasoning.

In central and western Europe We live in societies where most people can satisfy their needs well. But what are needs and what determines our desires? Imitation and rivalry play a big role in this. Sometimes these can become problematic and the question is how we can deal with them productively.

Dana HANESOVÁ – Mário DULOVICS, Sociálne médiá a kritické myslenie (online)

Workshop bude zameraný na spoločné "kritické" uvažovanie o ohrozeniach detí a mládeže, ktoré možno očakávať vo virtuálnom priestore. Budú prezentované veľmi zaujímavé a dôležité výsledky empirického výskumu k tejto téme. Pozornosť bude upriamená na analýzu prevalencie kyberšikanovania, excesívneho používania internetu, rizikových online výziev, ako aj ďalších rizikových aspektov internetu a sociálnych sietí.

Kateryna Ihnatenko, The conditions of comprehensive rehabilitation of acquired trauma in community social work (hybridně s dalšími přednáškami)

In our presentation, we`re discussing the rehabilitation system in Ukraine that has developed since the full-scale Russian invasion. The study focused on challenges, and the author gives tips for future and practical social workers on how they can deal with challenges in comprehensive rehabilitation in the community. Moreover, the presentation highlights the factors that can influence the successful integration of people with acquired trauma into the community. As an interactive part of the presentation, the speaker invites the participants to answer, “What are the rules of a social worker in a multidisciplinary team?”. Ultimately, the author flags the importance of an individual approach to engaging people with acquired trauma in comprehensive rehabilitation and effective recovery social networking after trauma.

Ethical aspects of media reporting on Covid-19 in Croatia: In the lecture, we will show the role of the media in shaping the media narrative about the COVID-19 pandemic in Croatia and the accompanying ethical problems, from the spread of hysteria and fear in the public at the beginning of the pandemic to the spread of conspiracy theories and the loss of public trust in the role of the media in Croatia.

The Role of Media in GMO Issues in Croatia: In the lecture, we will present the role of the media in shaping the media narrative about GMOs in Croatia and the accompanying ethical problems, such as the spread of conspiracy theories and other issues.

Vincent Mrio, Mariology from its African Perspective: Mary and the Dignity of the African Woman towards an Understanding of Family Values

The purpose of the lecture is to introduce participants to understand how Mary can be considered the model for the African Women - A profile contextualized in God’s plan of salvation prolonged in the Church in Africa. We will discuss such topics as Biblical Basis of Mary in Africa; The Presence of Mary in the Church in Africa; Mary and the African Family; Mary as an Icon of Women in Africa; Mariology Focused on the Trinity to clarify the identify of Mary and Jesus.

Marina METZ, Migration Situation in Germany and Europe: Challenges for Social Work / Social Pedagogy (online)

The need of discussion and reflection of migration-specific themes are dictated by the contemporary reality requirements of almost all European countries. Change in society, associated primarily with the processes of immigration, affects the processes and systems of goal-countries. This lecture reflects some trends and challenges in Germany in connection to migration and professional challenges for social work and social pedagogy.

Kat RAYNOR, Social Pedagogy and the US (online)

Kat Raynor a Social Worker from the Hudson Valley in NY who currently teaches in the Concentration in Human Services at SUNY New Paltz. She has a strong international background and value collaboration and communication across cultures. She thinks there is SO much we can learn from each other! In her travels, she has often encountered disbelief that in the US we could have such poverty and inequality. In the presentation, she will share how the human services field in the US, which is responsible for providing services to the most vulnerable and disenfranchised populations, is fractured and in need of a profession of social pedagogues.

Nicholaus Segeja, Small Christian Communities (SCCs) as a Way of being Synodal Church: An African Experience

The outline of the lecture is: 1. Africa as a continent. 2. AMECEA Region – within other ecclesiastical regions in Africa and Madagascar. 3. Highlights on the beginning and development of SCCs in AMECEA region. 4. Experiences, features and challenges of SCCs in AMECEA region. 5. Why synod on synodality now? – the phases or steps of the process of synod. 6. Main questions and topics the synod on synodality will try to answer. 7. Contributions from Africa – Church as family, ubuntu, palaver/reverential Dialogue.

Nicholaus Segeja, Promoting African Youth Faith Influencers: An Experience of AMECEA Gaba Campus, CUEA

The outline of the lecture is: 1. African Youth Faith Influencers – Meaning and Engagements. 2. Synodal style and spirit of community service – meaning and dynamics. 3. Chaplaincy and Youth Faith Influencers. 4. Contextualized methods and approaches – students’ university leadership; allocation of responsibilities; and spiritual activities. 5. African palaver and reverential dialogue – experiences and insights in relation to meetings, workshops and seminars. 6. Challenges experienced by youth faith influencers.

Taras Tymo, The Views on the Nature of Theology in Byzantine Church Fathers

The notion of 'Theology' is one of key concepts in the Christian discourse on God and His relationship with the world and human beings. Obviously, throughout the centuries this notion has undergone a long evolution, from earliest Christian instances of its use to the mature patristic scholastic and modern concepts of theology as the sum of our knowledge of God and about God. This talk is an attempt to elucidate the history of the development of the notion of 'Theology' in the Greek patristic authors of the first millenium and to compare it to our modern understanding of 'theology as a science’.

Taras Tymo, The War in Ukraine: Religious and Humanitarian Dimensions

In this lecture the presenter will look at the events of the recent war in Ukraine from the religious and humanitarian perspectives. He will reflect on quasi-religious roots of the Russian aggression (the ideology of the so-called "Russki mir" and of the Moscow as the "Third Rome"); on the role of religious factor in the motivation of both sides of the conflict; and on the use and abuse of religious symbolism and rhetoric. Finally some reflections on the healing role of Christianity during and after the war will be offered.

Edward R. Canda, Values and Ethics for Strengths-Based Social Work Practice and Spiritual Strengths Assessment

This presentation provides explanation of principles, values, and ethical guidelines for strengths-based practice in the context culturally appropriate, inclusive, and holistic social work. It offers examples of spiritually and culturally rooted strengths and resources that can support people’s coping, resilience, and growth through adversity and crises. Guidelines are offered for spiritual strengths assessment that honors diverse religious and nonreligious world views.

Dancing has been part of the experience of religiosity since the beginning of human history. It performs important social functions and can strengthen common beliefs. The first part will discuss the topic of dance as a religious experience. The second part will be practical.

Guo Ling: Inclusive education - systematic review

General education teachers play a vital role in implementing inclusive education practices. However, they often feel unprepared about their competency, and are less willing to work with students with SEN. Which evidence about their competency to implement inclusive education can we identify based on systematic review research?
